About us

African Alliance for Women Empowerment is continental non-governmental organization established since 1996 with focal points across Africa with the main objective of Empowering Women in Africa. Since 2000 its main objective was to empower women to Meet the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and since 2015 it focused on empowering women to meet the Sustainable Development Goals and the Africa 2063 Development Agenda. The Africa We want. Its activities are implemented through National Focal Point Organizations (NFPOs) in several countries covering all over Africa. Head Office is in Cairo – Egypt. And the focal points and Network cover all the regions of Africa (North, South, East, West and Center).

Policy Advocacy

  • Lobbying and Advocacy for African Women to have access to land and property.
  • Support of Women in the Informal Sector to Grow their Businesses and Formalize it
  • Supporting of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises owned by women;
  • Promoting Women to add Value to their products through packaging, designing, branding …. And have product development
  • Lobbying and advocacy and raising awareness to meet the challenges met by Cross Border Women Trades

Project Development

  • Issuing of a news bulletin to act as a tool to disseminate information and exchange of experience among women in Africa;
  • Organizing exhibitions and trade fairs locally & internationally for marketing of women products;
  • Promotion of Women in innovation & Science & Technology and the use of Science & Technology in their Businesses;
  • Promotion of the advancement of certain sectors in Africa e.g. Agribusiness, Garments and Textiles, Mining, Cultural Industries etc.
  • Promotion of preservation of Heritage and intellectual property rights for Women of Africa
  • Promoting women in industrialization
